Slab Reefing a Modern Sail

Many modern sails, found on all kinds of boats from the small dinghy to classic cruiser, offer slab reefing. Reefing points sewn into the sail allow it to be secured relatively quickly and easily. There are no moving parts to go wrong and no expensive equipment to maintain. The sail is gathered under the boom and the cords of the reefing points are tied around the boom.
